Personal Development & Growth
You don't have to be struggling to want more from life
In-person in North Parramatta. Telehealth across Australia. Adults and teens.
A DIFFERENT KIND OF REASON TO REACH OUT
Therapy isn't only for when things fall apart
A lot of people think you have to be in crisis to see a psychologist. You don't. Some of the most rewarding work happens with people who are functioning perfectly well — but who know they're capable of more, or want to feel more fulfilled, clear, or like themselves.
This is sometimes called personal development, personal growth, self-development, or life coaching. Whatever you call it, the idea is the same: a thoughtful, structured space to work on you — your goals, your patterns, your direction — with someone trained to help you understand what's really going on beneath the surface.
YOU MIGHT BE HERE BECAUSE
Where you're at right now
People come for personal development work for all kinds of reasons. You might recognise some of these:
You feel stuck, or like you're coasting without direction
You want to set meaningful goals — and actually follow through
You keep repeating the same patterns and want to understand why
You're navigating a transition and want to do it intentionally
You want more confidence, clarity, or self-belief
You're successful on paper but it doesn't quite feel like enough
You want to understand yourself more deeply
You're ready to invest in becoming who you want to be
"You keep waiting to feel like yourself again. What if you stopped waiting and started building the version of you you actually want to be?"
WHY A PSYCHOLOGIST
Personal growth, with real depth behind it
There are plenty of coaches who'll help you set goals. What makes this different is that you're working with registered psychologists — so alongside the practical, forward-looking goal work, you have someone trained to understand the deeper patterns that quietly shape your choices, your confidence, and the way you get in your own way.
That means the change you make tends to be grounded rather than surface-level. You're not just chasing a goal — you're understanding the person pursuing it, which is often what makes the difference between motivation that fades and growth that lasts.
HOW WE WORK
Practical, forward-looking, and tailored to you
This work is collaborative and goal-focused — you're in the driver's seat, and we help you get where you want to go. Depending on what you're working toward, we might draw on:
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy — getting clear on your values and what matters most, and moving toward it even when it's uncomfortable.
Motivational Interviewing — a collaborative way of working through what you want to change and how, at your own pace, without being told what to do.
Positive psychology — building on your strengths and what's already working, rather than only fixing problems.
Solution-Focused Therapy — practical, future-focused work that builds momentum toward your goals.
Psychotherapy approaches — going deeper where it helps, to understand the longstanding patterns that shape how you think, relate, and move through life.
Cognitive Behavioural strategies — understanding and shifting the thinking patterns and habits that hold you back.
Who you'd work with. Cassie Garling (Clinical Psychologist) and Clint Marlborough (Psychologist) — co-founders of Revolution Psychology, with over 40 years of combined experience across private practice, public mental health, and the Australian Defence Force. Both work with people on personal development and growth, so you can choose the fit that feels right.
WHAT CHANGES
What this work is for
Personal development work is about moving from where you are toward where you want to be — with more clarity and intention. People often come hoping for things like:
A clearer sense of direction and purpose
Goals that actually stick
More confidence and self-belief
Understanding the patterns that hold you back
Feeling more like yourself, and more fulfilled
Making a transition intentionally, not by accident
Everyone's path is different, and we can't promise a particular outcome. But that's the direction the work moves in — toward a life that feels more like yours.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Personal development — your questions
Is this the same as life coaching?
It covers similar ground — goals, growth, direction — but you're working with registered psychologists rather than coaches. That means you get the practical, forward-looking work plus the depth of understanding the patterns underneath. Many people find that combination makes the change more lasting.
Do I need to have a "problem" to come?
Not at all. Plenty of people come simply because they want more — more clarity, more fulfilment, more growth. You don't need a diagnosis or a crisis to invest in yourself.
Can I claim Medicare for this?
Personal development work is generally a private service rather than a Medicare item, since Medicare rebates apply to the treatment of diagnosed mental health conditions. If there's a clinical component, a GP plan may apply — we can talk it through on a free call.
How long does it take?
It varies — some people come for a focused piece of work around a specific goal or transition, others value an ongoing space for growth. We'll talk about what makes sense for you on the first call.
Can we do this online?
Yes — in person in North Parramatta or via telehealth across Australia, whichever suits your life.
